Transitioning to Encompass® by ICE Mortgage Technology APIs

As you may be aware, ICE Mortgage Technology recently announced a significant change in Encompass integration standards, which requires action from all users. Click the link below to review the current ICE schedule for the SDK to API transition:

ICE Mortgage SDK Transition Schedule

It is important to know that Lender Toolkit’s MaaS™ Automation tools are not affected by this announcement, however, our PowerTools™ are in the process of being updated to meet the new standards.

At Lender Toolkit™ (LTK), we understand the importance of staying ahead of these changes to ensure a smooth transition for our clients. As one of 4 elite partners with ICE and a company at the forefront of mortgage technology innovation, we are already taking proactive steps to align our PowerTools products and integrations with ICE’s new API standards.

Our Transition Plan, Roadmap & Resources

Ongoing Conversion

Lender Toolkit is continuing to convert our PowerTools™ to utilize the API.  Our SDK PowerTools™ and automations will be converted to API versions before usage fees will be imposed by ICE for continued SDK usage.

PowerTools™ that cannot be converted to API, due to limitations within Encompass® and/or the API, are listed in the FAQ section below.  The existing SDK versions of these PowerTools™ will remain available based your subscription Tier. ICE may begin assessing charges for SDK usage beginning May 1, 2026.

Here is a helpful article about the extended dates and SDK subscription costs.

Resources

  • API Client ID and User Requirements
    • API User Creation: API versions of our PowerTools™ require an API user to be created in each instance where the PowerTools™ are installed. Lender Toolkit can submit a request to ICE to generate the Client ID and secret key pair. Once received, we will forward the Client ID and instructions for adding it to your Encompass® instance(s).
    • Request API Credentials Click the link below to authorize us to submit a request for API credentials.
      • Required Information: Company name and address, contact name, email address, phone number, and a list of all Encompass instance IDs where the PowerTools™ will be installed.
      • Notification: ICE will notify us when the API Client ID has been created, typically within 7 to 10 business days. We will then provide instructions for adding Encompass® API users.
      • Existing API Users: If an API user has already been added for use with any of Lender Toolkit’s mortgage automations, additional credentials are not necessary. The previously generated Client ID can be used for our API PowerTools™.
    • Important Note: API versions of PowerTools™ will be installed as new products. However, they will not be functional without an API user created and added to the Encompass instance.

What is the difference between API and SDK – why is it a challenge?
An SDK plug-in operates within the system itself, providing direct access to internal tools and resources, which allows for more integrated and hands-on functionality. In contrast, an API plug-in interacts with the system from the outside by sending structured requests to perform specific actions. Converting an SDK plug-in to an API plug-in is challenging because it requires translating direct, internal operations into external commands, often with limited access to the same tools or data. This shift in architecture can involve significant redesign to ensure compatibility and maintain functionality.
