Director of Professional Services | Mortgage Technology and Encompass Implementation Expert
At Lender Toolkit, we talk a lot about mortgage automation, Encompass optimization, and helping lenders get real ROI from their mortgage technology.
But behind every successful technology implementation is something even more important.
The right people.
Jacob Cathcart, Director of Professional Services at Lender Toolkit, is one of those people.
A Mortgage Technology Leader with a Human Side
Jacob has been in the mortgage industry since 2008, starting in mortgage servicing during one of the most turbulent periods in modern lending. Over the years he built deep expertise in mortgage operations, Encompass configuration, and workflow optimization before bringing that experience to Lender Toolkit.
When you spend a few minutes talking with Jacob, you quickly realize he brings a lot more to the table than deep Encompass expertise.
Jacob lives in Northwest Arkansas with his wife of 15 years and their three kids. He has lived across the Midwest and South, including Northwest Illinois, Southwest Missouri, and Central Arkansas, and he loves learning where people are from and what makes their communities unique.
Outside of mortgage technology, Jacob is a lifelong baseball fan (Go Cardinals, since 1989) and football fan (Go Chiefs, since 1990). He also proudly supports his alma mater, the Missouri State Bears.
He and his wife make it a point to attend several concerts every year, and he is a devoted moviegoer who especially loves introducing classic films to his kids for the first time.
If the conversation turns nerdy, Jacob is right at home. He reads science fiction and fantasy daily, loves music trivia, enjoys genealogy research, and has a soft spot for cartoons, the Muppets, and theatre productions.
He is also a musician himself, playing guitar, bass, piano, and ukulele.
It is this mix of curiosity, creativity, and genuine interest in people that makes Jacob such a strong partner for lenders navigating complex technology challenges.
Today, he leads our Professional Services team, working directly with lenders to modernize their mortgage technology environments and turn Encompass into a true efficiency engine.
Professional Services at Lender Toolkit is often described simply: mortgage problem solvers for hire.
What Drives Jacob’s Work in Mortgage Technology
At his core, Jacob sees himself as a mortgage expert first and an administrator second.
His passion lies in helping lenders solve the kinds of operational problems that often seem impossible to fix.
Jacob thrives on:
• Building strong client partnerships
• Delivering exceptional customer service
• Solving problems others have written off as unsolvable
• Working through complex challenges under tight deadlines
• Creating solutions that are both functional and professional
He also happens to love tools that support that work, including one unexpected favorite.
Excel.
But beyond the tools, Jacob’s focus is always on outcomes for lenders.
“I want every client environment we touch to leave better than we found it,” he says. “That means improving workflows, strengthening operations, and helping teams succeed long after our engagement is finished.”
Our team partners with lenders to improve mortgage workflows, reduce operational costs, eliminate manual processes, and get the most value out of their Encompass investment.
But Jacob is also the first to point out something many lenders learn the hard way:
Mortgage technology implementations rarely fail because of the technology. They fail because of change management.
You can deploy powerful automation, advanced integrations, and modern mortgage technology. But if the people and processes behind those systems are not aligned, adoption stalls and the ROI never materializes.
That is where Jacob’s leadership comes in.
In addition to being one of the most skilled Encompass experts in the industry, Jacob is also a change management leader. He helps lenders translate mortgage technology into real operational improvement by aligning teams, redesigning workflows, and ensuring new systems actually get adopted.
It is the difference between installing technology and making transformation work.
And if you have spent time with Jacob, you also know he brings a spark of personality to everything he does.
I’ll share a quick story.
At ICE Experience earlier this year, Jacob found a $100 bill on the elevator floor at the Wynn. Most people might quietly pocket it and move on. Jacob could not do that. It bothered him that it belonged to someone else.
So we dragged him to the roulette table and convinced him to put it on the table instead. We split whatever came out of it with the group.
That is Jacob. Thoughtful, grounded, and the kind of person whose integrity shows up in the small moments.
As someone who has had the privilege of working with him, I would describe him this way:
“Jacob is one of the most delightful people I’ve ever met. He has the spark of a lifelong theater kid, the humility of someone who never takes himself too seriously, and the technical expertise of one of the best Encompass minds in the mortgage technology industry. But what really stands out is his integrity. He is the kind of person you trust immediately and the kind of teammate you genuinely want to spend time with.
We are a fully remote company, so when we do get together for in person team summits, those moments are rare and special. One year Jacob could not make it, and I remember feeling genuine grief about it. I was so bummed not to get that quality time bantering and joking around with him. He is just that kind of person. The best.”
I mean, when you ask someone “do the Leo DiCaprio in Great Gatsby meme” and without question they go and do this? That’s a good egg.

Jacob’s Vision for Lender Toolkit’s Professional Services
Under Jacob’s leadership, the Professional Services team at Lender Toolkit is focused on three core goals:
Deliver high-quality solutions that solve real operational challenges.
Improve every client workflow and environment we touch.
Create customers who become true advocates of Lender Toolkit.
The goal is not simply successful technology implementation.
It is building long-term partnerships with lenders who trust the team as a reliable voice of expertise in the mortgage technology industry.
This philosophy aligns directly with Lender Toolkit’s broader approach to Responsible Mortgage AI and mortgage automation.
Technology should support people, not replace them.
And when it is implemented correctly, it empowers lenders to operate faster, more efficiently, and with greater confidence.
At Lender Toolkit, we build mortgage technology designed to help lenders operate more efficiently. But technology alone is never the whole solution.
People who understand mortgage operations, Encompass, and change management are what turn automation into real results.
Jacob is one of those people.
And if you have ever worked with our Professional Services team, you already know why lenders trust Lender Toolkit to guide their mortgage technology transformation.
