The Encompass Automation Expert Helping Lenders Simplify Complex Mortgage Technology
At Lender Toolkit, our technology is only as strong as the people behind it.
As part of our We Are LTK campaign, we’re spotlighting the experts who design, implement, and optimize the systems lenders rely on every day. Today, we’re introducing Brittany O’Neil, Sr. Mortgage Technology Consultant — a hands-on Encompass expert on our PSO team who helps lenders turn operational chaos into clarity through thoughtful automation and strategic mortgage technology implementation.
And if you’re attending ICE Experience next month, you’ll have the chance to meet Brittany in person.
From Coastal Road Trips to Complex System Design
Outside the mortgage world, Brittany is fueled by curiosity and well-designed experiences.
She’s a Disney World enthusiast who appreciates the logistics and storytelling behind every detail. She road-trips across New England in search of hidden coastal gems and great food, usually with her Alaskan Malamute, Belle, riding shotgun. She loves fishing, gaming, and experimenting in the kitchen.
That curiosity about how things work — and how small adjustments improve experiences — carries directly into her role in mortgage technology.
Fun fact: She can fit into a three-foot lobster trap.

How Brittany Built Her Career in Mortgage Technology
Brittany’s path into mortgage tech started early. Growing up around banking training centers, she developed an appreciation for how financial systems function behind the scenes.
After starting her career at Bank of America and working her way into operations management, she eventually transitioned into loan processing. During that time, she was completing her degree in Software Engineering.
Her turning point came during a major loan origination system migration — from Harland to Encompass by ICE Mortgage Technology.
That project launched her career in Encompass implementation and configuration. Since then, she has:
-
Earned her Encompass Administrator certification
-
Led multiple Encompass implementations
-
Partnered with vendors and leadership teams
-
Designed process flows and documentation for long-term adoption
-
Become known as the “quick win” problem solver on complex projects
Fourteen years later, she brings both technical depth and operational empathy to every engagement.
What Does a Mortgage Technology Consultant Actually Do?
In Brittany’s words:
“I help lenders make their mortgage technology actually work for them.”
In practice, that means sitting at the intersection of business strategy and Encompass automation.
Her work includes:
-
Encompass optimization and workflow design
-
Mortgage technology implementation strategy
-
Automation planning that aligns with real operations
-
Process analysis and refinement
-
Guiding lenders through platform shifts like Encompass on the Web
Instead of layering new tools on top of broken workflows, Brittany focuses on fixing the foundation first. Automation only works when it’s built on clarity.
The Biggest Problems Lenders Are Facing Right Now
From Brittany’s perspective, lenders are navigating three major challenges:
-
Transitioning to Encompass on the Web
-
Rising technology costs
-
Ongoing interest rate uncertainty
The common thread? Complexity.
Many lenders assume automation is a quick fix. In reality, automation without defined workflows can create more confusion, not less.
“Most lenders don’t need more tech. They need clearer workflows and technology that supports how their teams actually work.”
That philosophy shapes every engagement.
Real Results: A Partner Connect Transition Done Right
One recent example highlights Brittany’s approach to mortgage technology implementation.
A lender preparing to move multiple services to Encompass Partner Connect felt overwhelmed. Vendor transitions were happening simultaneously, and there were concerns about:
-
Losing functionality
-
Breaking existing workflows
-
Dual configuration gaps between EPC and Desktop
-
Operational disruption
Instead of rushing setup, Brittany:
-
Reviewed each vendor’s availability and complexity
-
Identified integrations requiring dual configuration
-
Built a realistic transition roadmap
-
Refined workflows to reduce manual effort
-
Validated configurations to prevent future issues
The result?
-
Smooth Partner Connect transition
-
No last-minute surprises
-
Fewer manual steps for operations
-
Cleaner, more efficient long-term setup
They didn’t just survive the transition. They came out stronger.
Why LTK Is Different in Encompass Automation
There are plenty of consultants in the mortgage technology space. What makes LTK different?
According to Brittany:
-
We design, build, test, document, and support end to end
-
We take ownership of outcomes
-
We advocate directly with ICE when needed
-
We simplify vendor chaos into one cohesive strategy
-
We align automation with real-world lending workflows
Rather than juggling disconnected tools and multiple vendors, lenders get one strategic partner focused on the full ecosystem.
Less noise. More clarity.
Responsible Mortgage AI with Humans in the Loop
As LTK continues to lead conversations around Responsible Mortgage AI, Brittany sees it clearly:
“AI should support people — not replace them.”
In a regulated, high-stakes environment like mortgage lending, AI must have:
-
Clear guardrails
-
Transparent implementation
-
Human oversight
-
Workflow alignment
-
Ongoing validation
When implemented responsibly, AI reduces manual work and improves consistency without sacrificing compliance or accountability.
That’s not hype. It’s practical application.
